Martin demonstrated his poker abilities by making two good calls against Michael Tureniec during heads-up play. Both were hovering close to the three-million mark when Martin limped in, and they saw a flop of Jh-10s-6h. Both players checked, and the turn was the 3s.

Tureniec made a bold play at the pot with Q-4 in his hand, by betting out 380K. Martin made the call and the river was the Jd. Tureniec didn’t bat an eye, and bet out another 680k into Martin. Martin dug down and made a killer call with K-10, giving him close to a 3/1 chip lead.

Just a few hands later Martin was able to get the rest of Tureniec’s chips in the middle while holding a pair of fours. Tureniec’s K-9 wasn’t good enough, and Martin ended up with a full house to win the £1 million guaranteed first-place prize.

The victory put Martin over the $3 million mark in just more than two years of tournament play. This win follows up a $551,771 fifth-place finish he had at the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final.
