Player Profile: Mario ‘TheRealPokerccini’ Puccini
One of today’s hottest online poker players is German ace Mario Puccini. Hailing from Hamburg, he’s better known online as TheRealPokerccini. Mario has been lighting it up in some major online poker tournaments this fall. He came out of nowhere earlier this month and has quickly made a name for himself on the online poker tournament scene. In fact, Puccini has recently jumped from No. 47 to No. 25 on the PocketFives.com online poker rankings list which is updated on a weekly basis.

Puccini has been on a good run for the last couple of months, and has a long list of cashes to his recent credits. He finished in 12th place in Event #5 of the PokerStars’ WCOOP, pocketing $41,730. He also won a $320 re-buy event for $25,000, and a nightly hundred grand event for another $28,721. In September Puccini had 85 cashes for a total of $190,000 in winnings. Other notable finishes include a second-place finish in Full Tilt Poker’s Sunday Mulligan for a cool $28,000, and a win in a $30K guaranteed tournament for another $14,820.
Puccini has only been playing poker for less than two years, after learning the game from a friend while visiting the United States. When asked about his recent success, he said, “I just played a lot of tournaments on PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker and caught a nice upswing. I’ve been running a lot better.”
With so much success early in his playing career, we’re sure to see more of this poker prodigy in the future. He even managed to survive a battle with Annette Obrestad (“Annette 15”) during his WCOOP event, where he ran into a full house while holding two pair.
