Player Profile: Danny ‘THE_D_RY’ Ryan
One of Europe’s best online multi-table poker tournament players is Danny “THE_D_RY” Ryan. He now lives in Alicante Comunidad Valencia (Spain) and has been cashing consistently in online poker for a couple of years now. His most recent big wins were a second-place finish in the $322 No limit Hold’em on Full Tilt Poker for $169,924, a fourth-place finish in the $1050 Super Tuesday for $32,480, and a fifth-place finish in the $1000 1K Monday on Full Tilt Poker for $27,877. Before concentrating his poker skills on multi-table tournaments, THE_D_RY was a dominant figure in the high stakes sit-and-go tournaments on PokerStars. In 2007 he played approximately 1,500 sit-and-go tournaments and showed a profit of over $60,000. He has written articles on sit-and-go strategy for Bluff Magazine and has a thread on PocketFives, where he answers question and offers opinions.
Other notable online tournament results include several wins in the PokerStars $100 Re-buy event, a second-place finish in the Sunday Second Chance, along with a final table appearance in the Full Tilt $750k for $46,000.
Since June of 2007, Ryan has banked 12 live tournament cashes; the biggest being a fifth-place finish for $307,285 at the EPT Scandinavian Open on February 2, 2008. He also cashed for $76,000 at the EPT German Open on January 29, 2008. All his live cashes total over $500,000, with most of that coming in 2008.
Ryan is enjoying his success by living in and travelling to different countries in the world. He plays guitar, and poker is his only means of making money – not that he needs another. The 25-year-old professional intends on continuing to play as many live events as he can, while maintaining a busy online tournament schedule.
